One of my favorite All-Clad pans
A great size for soups, deep-frying (there is a fry basket accessory that fits inside) as well as stock and a multitude of other things. This pan is the same circumference as the 3 qt sauté pan, but with taller sides. It provides lots of surface to sauté things when you are starting a soup or other large dish. You can purchase the deep fry insert separately. I use it when making stock so I can easily lift the carcass and veggies out of the liquid at the end (it hooks on the side of the pan for draining the food). I greatly prefer the long handle on this pot to the small handles of the other stock pots since it stays cool and makes it easier to handle. Another advantage is that when frying chicken or other activity that makes spatters, the tall sides contain them pretty well and therefore keep the stovetop much cleaner. I don't have a lot of storage for pots and highly value the ones that serve multiple purposes. The price offered as of this writing is a great...

Pot to beat all pots
It would get a 5 except it's a little big for a standard size stove. I make it work and it is fine. Lay your pasta in without breaking and all underwater. Cook a large stew, or even brown up large amounts. It's a beauty and if you like large get it. And of course it is All Clad well worth the investment, made in USA.

Great Pan
This pan is a great deal at the discounted $165 price. I have used it for vegetables, prime rib roast in an oven, pasta, cranberry sauce, seared meat dishes, and just about anything I can throw at it. The pan itself is USA made, but the lid is made in China.The large drawback is the weight and size. If you are of a smaller build and lacking strength, then this pan will be very cumbersome and problematic to move, especially when weighed down with the items, liquid, etc., being cooked. Also, if you cook small portions, for 1-2 people regularly, then this pan is also awkward to wash and clean.However for families, holiday cooking, etc., this is a perfect everyday pan and will offer many years of service.

If you buy only one pan, make it this one
Yeah, yeah, it's expensive. Sure, sure, you could get a whole set of substandard pans. But you can't 'go cheap' on a saute pan. If you do, you'll burn stuff, and generally be an unhappy cook, so that's why you need a nice heavy one. I've got loads of cookware, but this is the most used item in my kitchen. Along with a good chef's knife and one saucepan, and maybe one to boil pasta, you'd be set. All Clad is a superior cookware to other brands, and I've tried or tested all of them. It's got a lifetime guarantee, so if you space the cost of the pan over, say, 20 years, it's a great value. You'll go through six other cheap pans in the same time period. Spend the cash, go All Clad.

Excellent Saute Pan! Love it!
To be honest if this pan didn't come in the set I bought I probably would not have it. Thank goodness it did because it turns out that I love it. It is great for sauted spinach, veal or chicken picatta, you will find you more uses for this pan everytime you open the cabinet. It heats evenly and is very easy to clean. As all All Clad is, this pan is excellent quality and very well made. I have just about every All Clad item made and love them all. Well worth the money and designed to last a lifetime. It also comes with a lifetime warranty. How can you go wrong? Also, if you should get something stuck to the stainless steel use a product called "Bar Keepers Friend" to clean it. Most supermarkets have it and Kitchen Etc. and Bed, Bath and Beyond carry it too. The container (like a Comet can) is gold with blue and white writing. All Clad recommends it for cleaning stainless steel and it works like a dream and is very inexpensive.

I was a dyed in the wool Calphalon, Non Stick fan until very recently when I was asked to baby-sit a friend whose husband had gone on a Golfing vacation to Hawaii.These friends are as set against Calphalon as I am for it: they are All-Clad fans. It was going to be a Calphalon versus All-Clad contest...and I was ready for it.Well, for the ten days I stayed at their home I was forced to use their All-Clad pans and I, against my better judgement, fell in love with them.Looking at all that naked Stainless Steel scared me a bit but I turned the heat on high and had a helluva time saute-ing thick Beef ribeye Steaks, Turkey Burgers, Salmon Steaks and even Tuna Burgers and never once did I have a problem with sticking nor with the clean up.One of the major errors most home cooks make is that they are afraid to turn their burners up and cook with high heat. Even better than the 6 quart!
When purchasing our original All-Clad cookware, we explicitly went for the 6-qt Dutch oven/stockpot, since we are a family of two. While the 6-qt has served us well for several years, I discovered I'd need the slightly greater volume when making some fruit preserves this summer. So I bought the 8-qt. It's been a joy to own and use. Unlike the 6-qt, whose handles get a mite warm after long stove-top cooking, the 8-qt handles rarely get hot, even after cooking on a gas range for a couple of hours. I don't regret our original purchase decision, but I do like the 8-qt version a bit better than the 6-qt now.

A Co-Dependent Relationship
I'm unnaturally dependent on my All Clad 8 quart -- so much so that I bought a second. Soup cooks like a dream in it, and it's great for making stock -- wide enough to brown the chicken and onions before adding the water. Unlike my old cruddy Revereware, you don't get great globs of stuck stuff on the sides that forces you to lose arm muscle scrubbing it off. Cleaning is easy with All Clad-- a must for someone without a dishwasher. Will this addiction ever cease??!!!

'TIS THE SEASON FOR SOUPS AND STEWS
Nothing tastes better on a blustery winter's day than a steaming bowl of homemade soup or stew. And, nothing is better to prepare it in than this All-Clad Stockpot. It seems that a stockpot is one kitchen item that never wears out, so I'd been making do with what we had. But, when I was fortunate enough to be gifted with this stockpot from All-Clad I couldn't believe the difference! It has a thick conductive base that spreads the heat evenly, not just where the burner might hit it. And, it has solid stainless steel walls that keep the heat in. The lid fits snugly, and it simmers away for hours emitting the most delicious aromas. The brushed exterior gives it a great look, and it is made to conform to All-Clad's estimable high standards. Fits my needs to a Tee! Buy It!
I got this pot to replace an old 5 quart teflon lined aluminum pot of similar shape but with plastic handles, which kept it from the oven without extraordinary measures. The old pot simply did not heat up very quickly or evenly and it's dark interior made it more difficult to see what was going on with braises or pasta cooking.So, I was often lugging out my 8 quart Le Creuset dutch oven when the smaller lighter pot would be the perfect size, but for the plastic handles.I have used it a few times since receiving it, and it meets every expectation, even outperforming a similarly sized 5 quart Calphalon pan which was my old favorite when I bunked with a gas range.This is an incredibly uselfu size and shape, and worth the cost if you cook a lot.Highly recommended.

**UPDATED** pay attention to the temperature
suspicious of non-stick surfaces since the first pans appeared on the market, my only experience was with $20 pans with screw-on handles. you know the type. i converted all my pots and pans to all-clad and viking when i moved in 2000 and left non-stick pans in the trash. but. but last year i got an all-clad non-stick pan and i am now a convert. it is a joy to cook with and is as easy to clean as the dinner plates (i do it all by hand).after reading these reviews i felt compelled to respond. reading about pans and surface coatings i learned that non-stick surfaces are designed to get hot as 500 degrees before they degrade. in fact, the surface material actually "off gasses" before you see the material degradation.to enjoy the pan the way it was intended do not use it in high temperature situations. if you are going to sear, then oven broil chicken, for instance, use a traditional pan. if you are sauteing onions and vegetables, reducing a stock, or doing...

not non stick anymore!
we purchased this pan less than a year ago and it has now totally lost its nonstick ability. I spoke to a rep at a kitchen supply store and basically I was told that to keep the non stick going for a long time (usually max of about 10 years), you need to basically cook only omelets. It can't be used for other things at really high heat. I never heard of this before so now my pan is the same as a regular all clad and the non stick does not work. very disappointing.

Could Be Better
I received my All-Clad set when I got married in 2001. In general I have been very happy with this pan. It cooks great and has been through a lot of use over the past six years.On the down side the pan is a bit heavy and the handle can get hot toward the base. As a result whenever I am cooking a 1.5lb of ground beef I need to use a pot holder to grab near the bottom of the handle so I can drain it.The other draw back that I have recently noticed is the non-stick seal is not what it once was. I am very careful with the cleaning, high-heat, and utensils. However, food has been sticking on the pan for the past year and is getting worse.Since All-Clad is all about durability I expect better.

A Pratical Cook and Mom
My family gave me this set for Mothers Day. I really love it. The heating is very even in this pan. I never need to use heat over med to cook. I can cook 1 1/2 pounds of pasta. The insert holes are too small for pasta to pass through. When lifting pasta out you have to do so slowly to allow the water to drain into the pan. I then leave the insert at an angle to serve from the pot this keeps the pasta warm. I was able to cook 6-8 ears of corn-on-the-cob by standing the ears on end. I can cook large quantities of vegetables and drain to serve without effort. The stockpot is great. It is deep enough to make jams without the jam splashing out of the pan onto the stove like my other stockpot. The set is too big to fit in the dishwasher with the dishes from the meal, but it does fit. I am able to clean it easily after cooking, even cooked jam without much effort at all. This set is a very practical addition to my kitchen.

I have been eyeing this pot for years! I thought it could be replaced by the , but no dice. The multicooker has an aluminum base and takes a while to heat up. Good idea but in practice not used much
I got this cool looking pot and insert thinking, Wow! I won't have to strain the noodles. But then after using it a bit, I realized that I don't need to heat 7qts of water to feed my family. And that the insert doesn't sit far enough down in the bottom of the pan to really hold enough pasta. I know this is a contradiction but that's what this pot combo is. It's really too wide for asparagrass, although if I have enough people it works. It's a bit too samll for steaming corn on the cob, as I tend to heat 2 ears per person. Also lifting the pot full of noodles isn't a thing to do over the stove. It's move the pot to the sink and lift there. 7qts of water is heavy and this isn't a task to be taken by smaller cooks.On the great side, the 7qt pot turns out to make great soups. It fits the small burner at the back of the stove. The soups rarely burn even without stirring. And the steamer works for that big batch of clams I have once a year.
