It Works and is a great product for ethnic, thick hair, soft or coarse
I've purchased this product from Sally's beauty supply and I used it on my scalp when I got my hair braided. It does have a little strange odor but you can easily spray a light all natural oil sheen on top of it and its gone. I just put it directly on my scalp and massaged it. I did it a few times a week and after I removed my braids, my hair was soft, strong, and it grew a lot. Its a good addition to any hair growth regimen that you currently have in place. My regimen to help my hair grow and become stronger, consist of this, carrot oil in the jar by organic root stimulator, and a spray by triple gro and hair vitamins by super hair energizer. I started by doing a good treatment to my hair using Aphogee shampoo for damaged hair, then I did Aphogee two-step protein treatment, then I did the aphogee balancing moisturizer treatment, and then I did the Aphogee ProVitamin leave-in conditioner, I also did a mostorizing condition by cantu called Cantu leave in conditioning hair repair and I...

Amazing results, but smells funny
Of all the hair products I've ever tried, this is the only one that gave solid results. My hair was soft, manageable and stopped breaking completely. It grew so fast my friends started asking me what I using and I was amazed as well. ONLY problem: this stuff smells funny. That's because it's free of articial perfumes and such, which was GREAT for my hair but cramped my social style. I stopped using Wild Growth due to the smell, but I'm going to try it again (I'm having a hair crisis!) and maybe use a sweet smelling natural oil or hair spray to mask the funny odor.

Great item, but don't buy this on Amazon.
This is a good product, within the first use I noticed my hair was softer and more manageable and I'm not completely 100% sure because I'm not the type of person to measure but after a few weeks I think I've noticed faster hair growth. With use of this everytime I felt that my scalp was becoming dry again, It solved my severe dandruff problem also. Great to put on hair before blow drying to not only protect from the heat but give you a frizz free smooth and shiny blow dry or straightener style with little to no breakage. I gave it 4 stars because SOME people may not like the smell, I found it quite to the contrary and I found it pleasant, has sort of a sweet smell to it, not amazingly good smelling but nothing to complain about at all. I'm not sure for people of nonafrican hair but I recommend it for African Americans of all ages (yes it's mostly, if not all. natural so it would even be good for use on babies and the toddlers) if you want faster growth, stronger ,softer and more...

MYTHS DISPELLED!!
I have read the other reviews with great interest and I have come to the conclusion that you can't please everyone. However, I noticed that there were references to other books about black hair, specifically the Shamboosie book. I don't know Cathy Howse, but as a black scientist and a physicianI do know that there were NO SHAMBOOSIES or Bamboosies 15 years ago who were writing intelligent guidelines to care for the hair of black women. CATHY HOWSE is the FIRST author to seriously address and dispel the myths and the subculture attitudes of black hair grooming and growing. The other epigones are too late as far as I am concerned. I have had professional hairstylists and hairdressers "take care" of my hair all my adolescent and adult life. I was so afraid to wash it by myself. I just scurried off to the hairdresser once or twice a week; had relaxers placed according to THEIR schedules and followed their "advice" to the letter. After all, they were...

UBHGII has been a lifesaver!
I first came across UBHGII while I was on the net trying to get as much information as I could on addressing the needs of my hair. I was having problems following the use of Rio products-yes, I made a grievous mistake, and believe me for the last seven years I have been paying for it-severe breakage, dryness, lack of texture-it didn't feel real; and no visible growth at all. And, yet it was not my hair I was concerned about. I have 4 little girls ages 12, 11 10, and 7-that means I have alot of hair to take care of. I relunctantly made the decision to put a perm in the 3 older children's hair, and shortly after that, breakage. I couldn't believe the amount of breakage we experiended. Disappointing
*UPDATED*I wrote the original review for this book 10 years ago- wow! I've changed the rating from 2 to 4 stars, for a few reasons:1. Not sure I conveyed this in the first review, but the 1st edition was a magical book. The idea of good care for black hair had never occurred to me, and it was an awakening. This was the first book of it's kind on the market, and started a revolution. I'm incredibly grateful to the author for that.2. It's hard to rank this book. At the time the first edition came out, it was easily a 5. Didn't like the current edition as much (as stated below). I had my doubts at first but this product is amazing!!!!!!
I bought this product for my hair use. I do not have bald spots or thinning areas.I bought the product to see if it actually does grow the hair. I received the product on Jan 15th and I used the product the same day. I wanted to wait until I used the product for at least a month before reviewing it. Well here it is April 16th and I am finally reviewing it. To track growth I also took pictures of my hair before using the product and after. I have tried everything under the sun and can pretty much tell you about any product whether it works or not and how to stop some of the side effects you may experience. Megatek does work!!!! I have read all of the reviews good and bad and have seen where some people went wrong using the product. I am going to tell you how I used it and I am also going to tell you some of the things you can do to prevent or stop problems from using this product.Some of things I have seen people write negative about the product are it leaves their hair...

Finally, a solution
i've had trouble with my temple area since I went on antibiotics 3-4 years ago. I've tried several different products (internal and external) and Mega Tek is the only product that has given me results. I've only been using it for 2 weeks and I'm already seeing new growth (seriously, 2 weeks). I never write reviews for products but I really believe that Mega Tek is worth it. I don't wash with it, I massage the product directly to my temples, once in the morning and once at night, I don't wash it out. Whenever I put it in my husband always compliments me on how nice my hair smells :)

So much New growth and thickness
I noticed increased thickness in my hair within 2 weeks of useage. It does cause a small amount of shedding the 1st few times I used it. Just make sure to condition and moisterize your hair daily. I'm african american, and I had great results.

This is a great product
As an African-American woman who has suffered from breakage and damaged hair, I have to give this props. I've only been using the product for about two week now and I'm seeing big difference in my hair. I use it as a part of deep conditioning regimen and let me say when I complete the overall process of conditioning, shampooing, and combing or brushing through my hair I have very little breakage. If I don't use it as a part of my DC regimen than, I'll use some to a cheap conditioner as a prepoo to soften my hair for about 35 mins. True the smell isn't the best but for the work it has done on my hair it gets my respect. I will warn you the first ingredient used in this oil is mineral oil, so for my natural ladies who are scared of that, you may want to try the powder form.

I am too tired to do a video review. Maybe, I will do one later. This oil is a must have for ladies with natural hair. I am AAF with 3c/4b hair that has been thinning since the birth of my child. I have been natural for 4 years and mostly keep my hair in cornrows because of this dry, hot weather. I do "baby" my hair. Weekly conditioning, bi-weekly deep condition, satin scarves etc etc. I used this oil for my weekly conditioning. I put this on my dry hair, let it sit for a few hours (after dinner). I washed it out with apple cider vinegar and applied some shea butter and went to bed. When I wokeup I had a new head of curls!! Perfect little corkscrew curls and they were so moist. I have also been using it on my ends when I were my ponytails (between braiding). I have only been using this oil about two weeks but it really has made a difference in my curl definition and the moisture content of my hair. I highly recommend this proudcts to my natural girls!! One of the best growth stimulating products on the market!
Now, people have to realize that what works for one person may not necessarily work for another. As a common example, in order for same product to work for all, you have to be on the same diet, eat same amount of times, use same care regiment, hair texture and etc. So please understand that if this doesn't work for you, it's ok, just didn't work. For me, it did! With that said, I had to say that because when I read reviews, I sort of try to read between the lines to see if it will work for me or not, while also considering the ingredients and the benefits. But I see too many people too often blasting off a product negatively that they claimed did not work for them, and who knows why? Once again, the only true test to show if it works for all will be to have a controlled group. I on the other hand, absolutely loved the product for both my child and myself. it grew both our hair. This book Heather Hummel and Valerie Ramsey is full of wonderful advice for women of all ages. I found Valerie Ramsey's lust for life inspirational; she is a woman with a lot to teach. The book also gives practical tips such as how to look great in a photograph, and I will use it as a reference tool for years to come. It is an easy and interesting read, and I would highly recommend it.

Motivational and Practical
I found this book to be so easy to read with practical useful advice on creating a life that you want. It was inspirational at the same time, making me reaffirm my beliefs that one can accomplish whatever one puts one's mind to. I have passed this on to my mother and recommended to my girlfriends and aunts, but the over-riding message of this book is applicable to both genders. Worth the read. I took away tips to apply in daily life as well as future planning/dreaming.

Wonderfully Easy to Read and Educational
My father gave me Gracefully for mother's day. I then went to see Valerie Ramsey at the Tattered Cover in Denver when she did a book signing there. I was so impressed! She is wonderfully open and honest about her own life and how she and Heather Hummel came to write Gracefully. I was inspired to read the book cover to cover! The book is so easy to read - simple to understand and effortless to apply the concepts contained therein to one's own life. This is a book that would be perfect for anyone. May I only grow older (I am 41) as gracefully as Valerie Ramsey has!
