Decided to look for a new beard and mustache trimmer when my trusty old Norelco Maverick TX-450 finally gave up the ghost and just quit running. If this sounds like I'm slamming the product, I'm not, as I had owned this basic battery-operated trimmer for over sixteen years - far longer than I ever expected it to last when I first got it. I could have probably fixed it (again) if I disassembled and cleaned it out, but decided to see what might be new on the market. This was primarily used as a mustache trimmer, but after using it for a few years with a handheld comb, was able to do a fair job with my beard.Was amazed to see how many models were now available, and how many companies were making them. It worked really well for me!
I used this both on my face and all over my bikini area (and I do mean ALL over, including the inner folds, if you catch my drift) and it did a fantastic job getting rid of the hair, left me feeling near-silky smooth, and no rash of bumps, which I always get with depilatories or a traditional razor. Plus, you can't use those last two methods around your "inner folds." Like a previous reviewer, I'll be buying another to keep in my bag. I don't know that I'd use it around my eyebrows, though. I think I prefer the control that plucking gives in that area.

Low Cost and Effective!
I am a lifetime beard grower, and have had many different trimmers, and I happen to by a Wahl one day, and its outlasted all my other big name trimmers, and i totally mistreated it and abused it, and it still trims like a dream.So I decided when i was looking to update my trimming kit to look at some Wahl Timmers, and i was not dissapointed, its plastic and feels lite but it does the job, and it does it the first time. It comes with everything i needed, and the cradle held everything pretty well. The instructions included are very useful as well.I would recommend this if your looking for a budget trimmer, I bought a wahl as a back up, cheap trimmer, and its become my primary trimmer.++This is not a shaver, i think people are confusing this for a different job, This is made to trim, maintain, and sculpt a beard or mustache. low battery life
As far as the quality of the trimmer, you get what you pay for. I had a wahl trimmer for about 10 years that was plastic, but it was great. This one is cheap plastic that feels like its going to fall apart. The main drawback is that is sucks that battery life up fast. The first batteries i put in were cheap, so i upgraded to quality batteries with little difference. I use it every other day and i say batteries will last maybe a month if you dont mind the pulling when the batteries get worn down.

Comfortable Solution to an Embarrassing Problem
My first trimmer was a Panasonic ER411NC. It was a very good trimmer, providing me with an elegant solution to a problem that most men start to have once they reach middle age: nasal hair. The Panasonic has a circular tip that has small, slit-like openings. Inside the tip is a spinning blade. The hair gets caught between the slits and the spinning blade. That is how it cuts. I wrote a review of that trimmer back in July of 2004 and gave it 4 stars.My second trimmer was another Panasonic, ER421KC. This one had a small LED light to help you see while trimming under your nose. I bought it to replace the ER411NC after it fell off the counter and damaged its blades. The ER421NC is very uncomfortable. Althought it uses the same blade design as the ER411NC, the motor seems to be weaker. It is easily stopped. The spinning blade sometimes cannot cut the hair that gets caught between the slits and itself. The hair can force the blades to stop spinning. It will be hard...

I just received this unit and agree with everyone who said how well this unit works. It is very easy to use and it does a much better job than the typical rotary trimmers, which grabbed and caused significant eye watering. In addition this unit works excellently for ear, eyebrow and moustache trimming compared to rotary trimmers.The packaging makes it difficult to get the unit out of the plastic without risk of cutting yourself.After only using the trimmer 5-6 times, over three months time, it has stopped working. I will now see if Norelco's 2 year warranty is worth it i.e. what cost do I incur to use the warranty on a $13 product.Before I sent the unit off for replacement, I experimented with cleaning it as I noticed, while reading the warranty information, that the unit could be rinsed under running water. The Perfect Mower for a Man's Ears and Nose
I don't know of anyone who enjoys trimming the hair in their ears and nose. The task is made more daunting by a market full of underpowered, barely useful powered trimmers. Over the years I have purchased many battery powered nose and ear hair trimmers, most of which end up in the garbage within a year or less. I have tried trimmers from Remington, Conair, Wahl and Panasonic. One had a light and one even had a vacuum, and most of them were wet/dry devices that would be rinsed out with water. All seemed like a good purchase at the time but all of them had the same problem: NOT ENOUGH POWER.Considering that most of these small trimmers are powered by a single AA battery, the lack of power only makes sense. After all, a single AA battery only provides 1.5 volts of power. Another annoying problem is that most of these devices would not maintain a consistent blade speed.
