Impressed with initial qualiy
I installed these ignition coils on my 2002 Grand Marquis a week ago. The engine runs much smoother than with stock coils. Supposedly it will also improve my fuel economy, although if I was concerned about fuel economy I would not be driving a vehicle with the Ford modular eight. I can't tell if the coils enhanced the car's performance, but they certainly have caused a silkier acceleration befitting my land yacht. These coils deliver power with greater consistency than stock coils. This Mercury is the first car I've owned with COP ignition technology, and I originally found the prospect of replacing the coils and spark plugs daunting. (I am just an at-home garage mechanic.) It was much easier than expected--not a whole lot harder than replacing the wires on a car with a more traditional ignition system. It is not necessary to remove the fuel rail although the clearance between the tops of the coils and the rail is small. Once the 7 millimeter bolt that...

100K mile tune up
With close to 100K miles on my 2000 f-150 (4.6L) I started shopping for parts. The sypmtoms were slow start, declining fuel economy, and a dash-light. I had one coil go out at 80K miles and the technician told me they occasionally go bad early, but I should plan on changing the rest at 100K along with the plugs. I called MSD to ask if any controllers, etc were also needed - no, just the coils. It took me 5 hours to de-grease the engine and change the plugs/coils. We had record low temps the next two weeks in Texas ***the truck cold started within the first rotation in 17 degree weather with these new parts (it took at least 2 rotations to start in 70 degree weather prior to parts)*** I've had the truck for 10 years & it now starts faster and idles smoother than when new. Idle was at 750 rpm, now it's 600 and much smoother. Increase in economy and performance? I don't have numbers but have all the proof I need to say: Better than OEM!Two weeks later I had Firestone...

fixed my studdering problem on my crown vic
I had a bucking/studdering problem on my 2003 Ford Crown Victoria. It was kind of a slight miss. This only happened when I was in cruising mode. The car started great, idled great and accelerated great. Except for that pesky problem that was driving me crazy. That slight missing and studdering and bucking only when at steady speed. It was going on for months. Only problem was, the car didn't have a check engine light. Finally I had had enough of this problem. The coils on my car were the stock 9 year old coils from the factory since I bought it new in 2003. So I said to myself; this feels like an ignition problem. I ordered these MSD coils. They come in a pack of 8. Replaced them all; along with the spark plugs. And bingo. No more slight bucks at cruising speed. No more slight missing at steady speed either. So that was my problem. After 9 years of service, the stock coils were probably weak, and weren't supplying enough spark to the spark plugs. If you still have the stock oem coils...
