Elegant without being too overstated
We registered for this dinnerware set prior to our wedding and we couldn't have been happier with how the pieces looked when we took them out of the box. We spent far too long in Macy's looking at all of the different options knowing that we'd be using these more for display purposes than for actually eating on them. This Mikasa set looks really elegant up close and the pictures on Amazon certainly don't do it justice. There aren't any crazy colors or patterns that would cause your guests/visitors to question your taste. The set is also more affordable than most and you're able to add on other items like the fruit bowl or gravy boat separately when they are on sale.The items are packaged very well and there was no cracks, dings, or breaks from shipping multiple boxes. You won't be disappointed with the quality or value from this set.

Nostalgic, classy, but heavy.
The product arrived correctly packed. Nothing broken in transit. However, I found a few lines are not correctly printed on dinner plates. Contacted Amazon and they promptly sent replacement, in 2 day shipping! My wife was very pleased with the replacement. My only grouse is that Amazon customer service phone number is difficult to find! If you like to buy it, be warned, the cups are quite big, and one set of plates are quite deep!

Gorgeous dinnerware set!
I have this set and it looks gorgeous. I get compliments on it. It looks very luxurious because of the silver lining. But it doesn't have to be used on special occasions only. It is porcelain and a very good quality. I got it a couple of weeks ago. So far it hasn't chipped or scratched. Notice that you should NOT put it in a microwave or a dish washer. You can't get a better set for 8 people at this price. (I should know, I searched for weeks before ordering this one.) I am extremely happy to have it!

Great idea for a wedding registry
We looked at a lot of china as we were creating our wedding registry and this Mikasa set really caught our eye. It isn't gaudy or shiny or any of those things that you wouldn't want your guests to think about on the rare occasion that you actually eat on this stuff. The packaging was fine and we even lucked out and were able to get a great deal on some of the larger multi-packs at a department store. Right now all of the sets we have are just sitting in boxes packed away in a basement, but once we finally have a china cabinet to display these in we know they're going to look great. Maybe one day we'll even eat a meal on them!

Product-Good...Packaging-Bad
I love this china pattern and was able to get a great deal from Amazon. The problem is that they ship the china in a box with no packing peanuts or newspaper to cushion the china. There isn't even a "Fragile" stamp on the box! The return policy is wonderful, though and very easy, but I had to do it twice. I recommend getting this product, but be prepared to have broken pieces.

This is lovely china. Caution though as Amazon does little to protect the china during shipping.I just returned my second set that was broken. The only protection was a plastic bag filled with air.PLEASE! put more packing into more delicate Items.Great price, shipping free, but at what cost? To turn around and send back?I'm only giving three stars for shipping problems.China 5 out 5 Stars!

Has the same problem as other reviewers
I had the exact same problem as other reviewers when I first received the set. I had purchased the set from housewaresdeals. com for thanksgiving. I contacted them about the problem with the design, it looked so worn out. They asked me to ship it back to them (they paid the shipping).When I received the replacement set, there was only two plates which had the design issue, all other pieces were very pretty and of good quality. So then I shipped them back just those two plates. Waiting now for the replacement.I am giving a 4 star as I dont want to blame the mikasa product. The good quality items that I received are really pretty and extremely elegant. The defective ones should not have been shipped to me by the seller. The seller should make sure good products reach me. I do agree that defective pieces from mikasa should not be in rotation, but hey all other companies have this problem.Eventhough the set is very good looking, I am a bit concerned if...
