This purchase was one of the best I have made ever. An that is the absolute truth - I'm not paid to write this. I was looking for something that would make the hard bed at a family member's house more comfortable while we were there on vacation. My husband & I have an assortment of physical issues between us and a week on a hard bed would have been too painful. Excellent for adding NEW life to your old mattress!
Just received this product yesterday. After reading all the great reviews, I decided to pull the trigger on this mattress topper versus others I was researching. Add to the fact that this has exceptional density to thickness ratio compared to other similar products on the market at a lower price point, this was a no-brainer. Further, the shipping was reasonably fast and not to mention FREE. I read from a number of customers that this mattress topper has a noticeable chemical scent to it. So as soon as I received it, I unpacked it from the box and aired it out and sprayed a little Febreze on it, which helped to some degree. I thought it smelled much better but my GF could still smell it. Honestly, it's not that bad and will dissipate over time. This is the only reason why I gave this product 4 stars and not 5. The Best Gel-Memory Foam Mattress Topper Available
I read many different reviews and searched website after website, until I finally decided on the Sleep Innovations gel-memory foam mattress topper. The mixture of gel and memory foam make this mattress topper unbelievably comfortable. I was a little leery at first because I am a pretty large man and it is only 2 1/2 inches thick, but after laying down in it I soon realized my worries dissipated quickly. My wife absolutely loves this mattress topper because it has completely transformed our old mattress and we both have shoulder, back and neck pains. So far it has taken such a great deal of pressure off of our joints, that I'm thinking about buying one for my father as well. I definitely recommend this mattress topper. Nice Product that I didn't Look Forward To
I dreaded the foam topper and did everything I could to avoid it. Unfortunately, my wife's hip pain was getting worse and we didn't have a choice. We gave this gel foam a try as an alternative and to my surprise, I actually liked it (even though I like hard beds). In fact, I don't think I've ever slept better and my wife's hip pain is completely gone. She absolutely loves it which is a good thing. When you consider the cost of a new mattress, you can't go wrong with this topper.Regarding smell, it took about two weeks for the smell to completely dissipate. However, the smell never really bothered either one of us during that two week period (small price to pay for the comfort).As for the heat retention that a few others have mentioned, I'm about 6' 220lbs and don't like being hot when I sleep. I was doubtful at first that this product, tho costly, would actually work. To my surprise, it not only works, but works wonderfully! Our king size mattress (pillow top) set is only two years old but has sinking spots where we lay. This product has eliminated the dips, plus increased the comfort ofthe bed. My wife suffers from back pain every day, but the mattress topper has totally eliminated that problem. I do find it harder to "roll over" (age 63)in bed (because you tend to form fit to the topper), but I sleep much better and feel more rested then before. Did I think the product expensive: yes. Would I buy one again: DEFINITELY!! Is it worth the expense: It's priceless for us. It does add 3 inches to the bed height, so you may have a problem "climbing" into bed. but a little old fashion "foot stool" takes care of that. Unexpectedly, A Huge Upgrade From My Previous Foam Topper
On a functional product review, I almost always award 4 stars. 4 stars, to me, says that the item is what you expected it to be. I'm actually going to break with tradition with Sleep Innovations 2.0-inch Memory Foam Topper. Why? Well, I have used memory foam toppers for several years--this is my third. When I received this Sleep Innovations product, I immediately dispensed with my old cover (1 1/2 inch--for those keeping score). I let this one unravel and air out. First, while I expected a distinctly chemical smell, the foam was odorless. And second, maybe I've been using cheaper ones, but this is the first time I've had a foam cover with a zippered cotton mattress cover. So I got rid of my old mattress cover as well. Nice bonus!The product is great to sleep on, you notice the difference immediately. I did not have high hopes, but I really like it!
I do not sleep well, at all. I get maybe 2-3 hours of uninterrupted sleep a night. 5 TOPS but that's pretty rare. I don't have kids, not married, no pets. Just me. I do have persistent pain due to a hip issue, and I live next to a very busy street - so that plus some worrying keeps me up.-I wondered if this thing would help. Now, my bed was not cheap - I spent $1,700 a few years back buying a real nice mattress and box spring. I'm not that happy with it, only because I don't sleep well anyhow. Heavy Chemical Odor
Received the mattress topper here in Afghanistan to make my bed a little more comfortable to sleep on but I could not use the mattress for 2 days because of a very strong nauseous chemical odor. I had to hang it outside to "air out". It did not get rid of the smell completely but at least its bearable now. Other than that, it was very comfortable and I'm sleeping a lot better. Best thing ever!!
I'd like to preface this review by saying that I had back surgery 6 months ago and have been waking up with severe back pain every morning ever since. The doctor told me this is normal because I had a 2-level fusion and my back gets stiff during the night.I actually purchased this mattress topper for the very uncomfortable futon that's in our guest bedroom, to make it more comfortable for guests. But first I tried it out on my own bed for a night and was AMAZED at how comfy it was, and guess what else? I did NOT wake up with any back pain! None! So now I have to get one for my own bed :-)Now I will say this: my partner does not like it. But as far as I'm concerned, it's the best thing I could have ever bought for forty bucks! Unbelievable! I Haven't Slept This Soundly in Decades!
I am an overweight 61 year old man with sleep apnea, insomnia, a bad back, as well as the usual aches and pains associated with someone of my age and body type. I honestly do not remember when I last felt like I slept through the night. That all changed last Thursday after a satisfying night's sleep on my new Serta 12-Inch Gel Foam 3-Layer Queen Mattress.UPS delivered the mattress, shrink wrapped in a plastic bag and folded and stuffed into a plastic heavy duty bag and boxed in a 4 foot high 89 pound box. My wife and I had little problem dragging it into the house and up the stairs to the bedroom. After removing my old mattress, we laid the box on its side, pulled out the heavy duty plastic bag, cut it away from the shrink wrapped mattress, placed the mattress on the bed, used scissors to cut the shrink wrap off and watch the mattress quickly expand into a perfect queen size.The directions indicated the product would be fully functional after 48 hours and... Do You Impress Your Bed? Or, Help! I need a bed that's soft, supporting and not a Heat Trap!
My wife moves us to our guest bedroom during the summer because our mattress is too uncomfortably hot. This summer, we would like to sleep in our bedroom. As the desert heat approaches, we decided our 5-year old pillow top memory foam mattress goes and we try this Serta gel memory foam mattress at Amazon's less than a 1/3 the cost of a latex to see if we can tolerate a summer in our master room. We are hopeful.Happily, this mattress has been a good replacement. The mattress has given us good nights sleep both relieving pressure points and keeping us cooler (it's only end of April). I am a side sleeper so I prefer a softer mattress' give to relieve pressure points which otherwise cut off circulation as my weight hits hips and shoulder. My wife is a back and stomach sleeper with more body surface exposed to the mattress and she prefers stronger support. For over a year, my loving husband has whined that we really need a memory foam mattress. However, I resisted, because I have a memory foam pillow, and I avoid using it during the summer because of the heat. When I had a chance to try this out, it seemed like the perfect solution.So, here's the scoop. The mattress (which can be used on a platform or a box spring), comes in a box about 4 ft tall, and 3 x 3 ft circumference. It weighs 89 pounds, so count on unwrapping it as a two-person job. The instructions suggest that you prepare the bed ahead of time, (take off any other mattress) and open the mattress ON the bed. Given the weight, I second their opinion.We opened the box and together managed to turn it upside down, and the weight let it slide out of the box easily, so we slid the box up over it.
